The Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles seek to foster the spiritual lives of those with whom and for whom they work. What greater good can there be than to draw souls closer to our Lord?
The following programs and events are sponsored by our Sisters.

Through these different opportunities that are available, it is our hope that many will continue to grow in their faith and in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. More detailed information can be downloaded as indicated below.

Décor Carmeli
Girls ages 13 to 17

Décor Carmeli is a volunteer program for girls ages 13-17, traditionally known as the Junior Auxiliary, in which they spend a day with the Carmelite Sisters at the Sacred Heart Retreat House or in another apostolate. The girls offer their services in a variety of ways from working in the kitchen with the novices, to special projects around the grounds, to helping with various projects and events. The day is balanced with prayer, catechesis and recreation with the Sisters.

Petrus Youth:
"Build Your Life on the Rock"

Petrus is a dynamic Catholic youth group for all high-school-age teens. The night includes: solid Catholic teaching, praise and worship, Eucharistic Adoration or Mass, live bands, as well as the opportunity to go to confession.

Petrus is held every 2nd Saturday of the month at the St. Joseph Campus of Sacred Heart Retreat House.

Families on the Rock:
For the whole family

Every other month Petrus branches out to include Vision for adults, Petrus for teens , Solid Rock for Middle School and Pebbles for primary age children. We call these evenings "Families on the Rock."

Handmaidens
For Single Young-Adult Women

Handmaidens is a Faith formation group for single women ages 18-35 who desire to grow in their relationship with Our Lord and to have an opportunity to meet other young women who share the same values. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m.with potluck dinner, followed by a presentation according to the theme of the year and concludes with Eucharistic Adoration.

Our Theme for 2009-2010 is:
"Living in His Presence: Deepening my relationship with our Lord through prayer."

Family Nights with the Carmelite Sisters
For the whole family

Family Nights are an opportunity for families to spend time together with the Carmelite Sisters. The evenings include prayer, recreation, games (you should expereince our Family Jeopardy!) and "top of the line" potluck dinners.
